MOST RECENT SURFACE RUPTURE: Holocene
OTHER NOTES: Unnoticed until after the 1992 Landers earthquake sequence ruptured nearby Eureka Peak and Burnt Mountain faults, the Long Canyon fault was discovered as a result of investigations in the area immediately south of the Landers rupture area. While it did not experience rupture in 1992, it has been active within the last several thousand years -- not surprising, given its proximity to the San Andreas fault zone.
